For the sixteenth successive year, nxo Manchester South's Giles Wadsworth designed, produced and delivered the Society of Editors annual conference. An extremely high-profile event featuring speakers from politics, the law, sport and of course journalism, the event attracts some 200 editors who debate the hot issues facing the media today.
Pictured right are just three of the speakers at this year's event including Olympic Gold medallist Jonathan Edwards discussing the media's involvement in the run-up to the 2012 Games; Lord Judge, the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales who declared that an independent media and judiciary are the twin cornerstones and bulwarks of a free society; and Dominic Grieve MP, the Shadow Secretary of State for Justice outlining Conservative plans for the Justice system should they win the General Election.
This year's three-day event was held at the Radisson Blu hotel at Stansted airport where more than 40 speakers were invited to deliver their views to the audience. Society of Editors Executive Director Bob Satchwell said, "Your efforts have again made a major contribution to the success [of the conference] and set us a challenge for next year."
The Society is planning to hold its 2010 conference in Glasgow and Giles is actively involved in the process.
